PhD Student, Aparna Upadhyay, earned a Forbes-Lea Research Award ($1500.00) for her investigation into the role of oregonin in the defense and ecosystem function of red alder (Alnus rubra) in the Pacific Northwest.

We visited the Quileute Tribal school in Forks, WA and taught a two-week microbiology course for high-school students. We had a blast isolating endophytes from native plants. Check out the article in The Talking Raven Newsletter!
